A couple tries to escape quarantine in the Netherlands and gets caught on a plane

Dutch police have arrested a couple while trying to escape from a hotel where they have been quarantined. One of them tested positive for covid-19 when disembarking in Amsterdam over the weekend on a flight from South Africa. And another 60 passengers tested positive, 13 with Nova Varian, Omicron.

The Spaniards and the Portuguese were arrested while they were already on a plane at Schiphol airport, which was bound for Spain last night. According to a police spokesman, the couple took off from the plane “without resistance”.

The couple, who have not been identified, reportedly left the hotel around 6pm on Sunday, when the security guards overseeing the quarantine called the police. No further details were disclosed about the couple’s health status.

A total of 624 passengers arrived in Schiphol on flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town on Friday morning aboard KLM.

For four hours, all passengers underwent a Covid test due to the discovery of the new alternative. Tests tested positive for 61 passengers and were quarantined in a hotel near the airport with their partners. From this sum, 13 were diagnosed with omicron.
