Withdrawal from PIS / Pasep released to 10 million people

Withdrawal from PIS / Pasep released to 10 million people

Caixa Econômica Federal has made approximately R$23 billion available for withdrawals from the PIS/Pasep Fund. The amount is intended for about 10 million people who worked on an official contract until 1988.

The sums have been available for withdrawal since 2019 and one of the reasons the sums have not been withdrawn is that many contributors died before the money was recovered that heirs could withdraw, but they don’t know if they had any money to withdraw or not.

Moreover, since a large portion of rights holders today are already elderly, they end up not caring about the money that can be withdrawn and, consequently, they lose their entitlement to entitlement.

Who is entitled to a PIS / Pasep Fund?

At the outset, it is important not to confuse the PIS/Pasep Salary Bonus with the PIS/Pasep Fund. This is because the salary bonus is paid to workers every year, while the PIS/Pasep or quota fund is paid only once in a lifetime to those who worked between R$ 1971 and 1988.

Furthermore, PIS shares are available to those who worked by formal contract in private companies between 1971 and 1988. Pasep shares are available to civilian employees or military personnel from the same period.

Attention! If the worker or his heirs do not withdraw the amounts by June 1, 2025, the money will be transferred to the union coffers, where everyone who has not withdrawn loses their right.

How to perform or serve

Employees with Citizen Card and Password can withdraw directly from ATMs, lotteries and Caixa Aqui reporters, if the amounts are up to R$3,000.

PIS Contribution Credit may have been offered automaticallyIf you have an individual checking or savings account and have Caixa balance. So, you just need to transfer it in the respective account.

In the case of workers who do not have a Caixa account or citizen card and password, withdrawals must be made at the Caixa branch upon presentation of an official document with a photo.

If the worker has already passed away, the heirs and dependents can withdraw the shares by submitting the following documents:

  • Death certificate and certification or declaration of dependents who are entitled to a death pension from the INSS;
  • Death certificate and certificate or acknowledgment of dependents entitled to a death pension issued by the employer;
  • A court declaration specifying the benefits of withdrawal

How to check the balance

In June of last year, the stakes of the PIS/Pasep Fund were linked to the Employment Compensation Fund (FGTS). Thus, the balance can be consulted by Caixa Economica Federal Regulations.

Thus, the shareholders can conduct the consultation by:

To consult the stock balance, either the CPF (or former CIC) number or the NIS number of the shareholder is necessary.
