The UK’s busiest London Heathrow Airport has announced that many business passengers have canceled their flights after the emergence of the Omigron variant of the corona virus and restrictions imposed by countries fighting it.
Airport management said Friday that demand for aircraft has dropped by 60% from pre-infection levels. Many business travelers are canceling their tickets because they are worried that they will not be able to return home due to restrictions imposed by countries.
Heathrow management has called on the UK government to allow travelers to respect the privacy they need at home rather than buying expensive hotels. This will allow for a greater number of trips during Christmas and increase confidence that we will be able to travel normally by 2022.
Airport management expects international travel to remain below 2019 until government restrictions, including test requirements, are lifted.
