The USDA says the U.S. sells 307,200 tonnes of 2021/22 tonnes of wheat a week

Sao Paulo, Oct 10 (IANS) Exporters from the United States sold 307,200 tonnes of wheat from the 2021/22 crop in the week ended March 3, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) said in a statement on Thursday. Volume increased by 2% over the previous week and by 21% over the previous 4 week average.

During the week, the Philippines (133,100 tonnes), Mexico (111,700 tonnes), Japan (26,200 tonnes), Colombia (17,400 tonnes) and the Dominican Republic (13,100 tonnes) were the main buyers. El Salvador (1,400 tons), South Korea (1,000 tons) and Taiwan (100 tons).

For the 2022/23 harvest, 63 thousand tons were sold. The main buyers are the Philippines (50 thousand tons) and Mexico (13 thousand tons).

The sum of the two crops is subject to the predictions of the researchers Dow Jones NewswireExpect quantities of 300 thousand to 700 thousand tons per week.

Exports during the period were 384,500 tonnes, up 5% from the previous week, but down 10% from the previous four-week average. Mexico (88.2 thousand tons), Japan (66.6 thousand tons), Philippines (65.1 thousand tons), Thailand (58.5 thousand tons) and Guatemala (52.1 thousand tons) were the major destinations during that period.
