Prices are “crazy” in the market and corn oil costs like olive oil

It is true that in some cases there are differences in the sizes compared. In the case of corn oil the bottle is 900 milliliters and in the case of olive oil the bottle is 500 milliliters. A package of frozen cod is also 800 grams, and beef is sold by the kilo.

However, what shocks the consumer is that the order of importance of products, which is usually reflected in prices, has changed abruptly. In his memory of prices, Brazilians know that cod and olive oil, as imported products, always cost more than beef and corn oil, both of which are locally produced.

The chaos in pricing also takes into account the national and more detailed product comparison. This is the case of coffee, although Brazil is the main global producer.

A 500g packet of roasted and ground coffee was found for R$25.90, while a box of 10 coffee capsules to brew in the machine was sold for a slightly lower price, R$25.20. Each capsule weighs 52 grams and is therefore equivalent to the weight of a pod of coffee powder. It is good to remember that coffee in capsules goes through a more complex production process than dried coffee.
