Apple Music raises the price of its student program in the US, UK and Canada – TechCrunch

Apple Music has quietly raised the price of its student program in the US, Canada and the UK. In the United States and Canada, the cost of the program increased from $ 4.99 to $ 5.99. In the UK, the price has gone up from £ 4.99 to £ 5.99. The price hikes originally announced by 9to5Mac are now visible on the Apple website. The company has not yet publicly announced price changes.

The personal plan costs $ 9.99 in the US and Canada and £ 9.99 in the UK. Prior to the new changes, the student plan offered a 50% discount on the monthly subscription price of the music streaming service. The student plan now offers a 40% discount on the standard Apple Music subscription. The price of the Apple Music family plan remains unchanged at $ 14.99 per month.

Last month, Apple increased the price of the Apple Music Student program in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, India, Indonesia, Israel and many other countries.

The cheapest plan for the music streaming service is now the $ 4.99 Apple Music Voice plan, which was launched late last year. The new service, primarily designed for use with HomePod speakers or AirPods, restricts consumers from accessing Apple Music using Siri commands.

Note that voice-only status is not a measured version of Apple Music with specific lyrics. Like traditional subscriptions, subscribers can access Apple Music’s list of 90 million songs, its tens of thousands of playlists and its hundreds of new mood and action playlists, custom mixes and genre stations.
