The United States has warned Russia of the consequences of using chemical weapons

U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan spoke with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Badrushev on Wednesday and warned of “any possible Russian decision to use chemical weapons” or the biological consequences in Ukraine.

A White House report following the phone call, Russia’s first high – level contact between the two countries since the occupation of Ukraine, did not specify what the consequences would be.

Washington and its allies have accused Russia of spreading unsubstantiated allegations that Ukraine has a biological weapons program as a precursor to launching its own biological or chemical attack.

Russia’s Defense Ministry on Tuesday accused Kiev of using chemical weapons against Moscow during a three – week conflict with Ukraine, without providing evidence that it was planning a chemical attack on its own people.

According to a White House statement, Sullivan told Patrushev that Russia should stop attacking Ukrainian cities if it is active in diplomacy.

Sullivan reiterated US opposition to Russia’s occupation of Ukraine, and told the United States that the United States would pay Russia, the White House said.
