The Municipality of Divinopolis, through the Municipal Health Service (SEMUSA), is pleased to announce last Wednesday (07/06) the first bariatric surgery to be performed by the Unified Health System (SUS) in the municipality.
The important and sensitive pre-operative operation was performed entirely in the polyclinic, with the participation of a multi-professional team from the network comprising of a surgeon, endocrinologist, nurse, psychologist, nutrition and social services, providing safety and comfort so that the operation could be successfully performed as it was done.
The patient will continue to be assisted by the team who will from then on conduct post-operative care, following a range of care essential to her recovery and progression in the process of promoting health and quality of life.
“The established protocol demonstrates the importance of accuracy at every stage of surgery, whether before, after or after surgery, so the multidisciplinary monitoring provided by the network is of paramount importance.” Highlights Elbert Eddy, Director of Secondary Care.
