Nine people, including two children, were injured when a gunman opened fire at a water park in Rochester Hill, near Detroit, Michigan. The attack took place on Saturday afternoon the 15th, shortly after 5pm local time at Brooklands Plaza Park. According to city hall, the company is temporarily closed.
The suspect, 42, was found dead hours later at a home in a neighboring county, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to authorities. “We can confirm that the suspect is dead tonight at 10:30 p.m., apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot,” the city’s mayor, Brian Barnett, wrote on his social media accounts Saturday night. “I have no comment on the individual or his possible motives. I’m sure more will be clarified in the coming days, and I ask our community to be patient while we conduct the investigation.
An eight-year-old boy and his mother are among the victims in critical condition, as is his brother in stable condition, according to local officials at a local press conference on Sunday morning. According to reports, the man got out of his car and started shooting randomly. The cause of the attack is yet to be ascertained. Officials also said that he had no contact with the affected people.
