Germany, France and England have called on Iran not to attack Israel

Following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Germany, France and the United Kingdom issued a joint statement on Monday (12) warning Iran not to escalate the conflict in the Middle East by attacking Israel.

The document, which comes after days of escalating tensions between Israel, Iran and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, urges Tehran to avoid plunging the region into all-out war and jeopardizing a ceasefire and the possibility of hostage releases.

Also, Iran and its proxies must be held “responsible for actions that endanger this opportunity for peace and stability,” the Israeli newspaper said.

“We are deeply concerned about the escalation of tensions in the region and are united in our commitment to de-escalation,” the statement added.

The three countries congratulated “the tireless work of partners in Qatar, Egypt and the United States to reach the agreement.”

Tensions in the Middle East rose after the killing of Haniyeh, a key political leader of Hamas, in Iran and a top Hezbollah commander killed in an Israeli strike in Beirut.

Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah blamed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s army for the death and vowed to retaliate.

The request by Germany, France and the United Kingdom suggests that the country could be targeted for attack in the coming days, according to an assessment by Israeli intelligence services.

According to sources, possible attacks include launching missiles and drones against military targets and close to civilian population centers. .
