Corinthians are close to signing a team that belongs to Porto

Corinthians already have a pre-agreement to sign right-back Joao Pedro, who belongs to Porto and has spent the past few seasons on loan at Bahia. The defender is undergoing medical examinations on Wednesday, in Sao Paulo, which, if approved, will be announced by Parque Club São Jorge.

The information was initially published by the journalist Jorge Nicola confirmed My Timon. The deal will include a one-season loan from the 24-year-old, possibly valid until the end of the São Paulo Championship next year.

Palmeiras revealed that João Pedro has also worked in Chapecoense and Bahia in recent years, the first with a team from El Salvador, prompting Porto to invest €4 million in the acquisition in 2019.

In Portugal, however, he played only three matches for the first team, and was used mostly by Porto B, who play in the domestic second division. It was loaned back to Bahia in 2020 and 2021, and remained in the Nino Paraíba Reserve.

If the deal is confirmed, Joao Pedro will be the fourth right-back under contract from the main cast, which already includes Wagner, Matthews Alexander and Michel Macedo (on loan from Juventus). In the U-23 team, Corinthians still have Hegor Lapa and Igor Formiga.
