The player underwent surgery on his left knee after he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament during a friendly match for the Brazilian U-20 team, on October 29 last year. The surgery was performed on November 11th.

Last year’s operation was Gustavo Mantuan’s third. He had already torn a ligament in his right knee in 2017 and later in his left in 2019.
