An Iraqi who applied for political asylum in we The US Department of Justice announced on Tuesday (24) that he plotted to assassinate former President George W. Bush.
Shehab Ahmed Shehab, 52, spoke to an FBI informant unaware that the caller worked for the agency.
In the conversation, he said he wanted to bring at least four more Iraqis into the country across the border with Mexico to put the plan into action, according to an FBI affidavit filed in federal court in Columbus, Ohio.
Two of the members of the strike team will be former Iraqi intelligence agents, and the rest will be members of the Islamic State (IS) or another Qatar-based group, which Shihab has dubbed “the Al-Raed.”
Shehab told the informant that they wanted to kill Bush, who ordered the invasion of Iraq in 2003, because they considered him “responsible for the deaths of many Iraqis and the collapse of all of Iraq,” according to the file. He added that he was the cousin of former ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and that he had killed Americans in the years following the invasion.

Shehab was arrested today and charged in federal court with immigration offenses and complicity in the attempted murder of a former US employee.
Chehab and the Columbus-based informant explored Bush-related sites in Dallas, Texas, and discussed how to obtain weapons, uniforms, and security vehicles to carry out the plan.
