The seven astronauts currently orbiting around International Space Station (ISS) Take advantage of the latest deliveries of supplies to celebrate Pizza Day. French astronaut Thomas Pesquet shared a record on Instagram. There are currently three Americans, two Russians, a Frenchman and a Japanese on the International Space Station.
The components of the “floating pizza” were sent into space with just under 4 tons of cargo in early August by Northrop Grumman in partnership with NASA. The package also included fresh apples, tomatoes, kiwis, and a cheese buffet.
In his log of his pizza night in space, Pesquet explained that he recorded and shared the video so followers could analyze pizza preparation and that he would present his own recipe. “Everything but the pineapple, of course,” the astronaut wrote. “It would be a crime in Italy.”
The International Space Station is a kind of manned laboratory for space research. The station was launched in 1998, in joint operation by 14 countries and cuts the sky at an altitude of about 400 km, so that it can be seen with the naked eye of the Earth, without the need for professional equipment.
The International Space Station takes an hour and a half to circle the Earth. In one day, the equipment completes 15 turns, but visibility is only possible for a few minutes, since visibility depends on the solar location.
