Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that Ukrainian soldiers have traveled to the UK to receive training in the use of armored vehicles to fight a Russian invasion.
“We are currently training Ukrainians in Poland in air defense and indeed in the use of armored vehicles in this country (UK),” he told British journalists accompanying him on his visit to India.
According to a spokesman for the Conservative leader, quoted by these newspapers on Thursday night (21), “two dozen” Ukrainian soldiers are in the UK today for the training.
“We are working with our partners to provide Ukrainians with new types of equipment that they do not have experience with. Therefore, it is only fair that they receive the necessary training to use it effectively,” he added.
“We are working with our allies to give Ukraine the tools to defend itself,” he stressed, downplaying concerns that the move could be seen as an escalation of the Kremlin’s war.
During a visit to Kiev on 9 April, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelensky, Johnson promised Ukraine 120 armored vehicles and new anti-ship missile systems as part of a British military aid package. Missiles.
