Brazil and the United Kingdom form a partnership to fight the environmental crisis

The joint report affirmed the need to reduce the use of fossil fuels and slow global warming

The statement was released after a meeting between Interim President Maria Laura da Rocha, Minister Marina Silva (Environment) and United Kingdom Secretary for Energy Security Ed Miliband.

The meeting held on Tuesday (Aug 20) and Wednesday (Aug 21) addressed the two countries’ leadership on the international stage to address the environmental crisis, including the loss of forests and biodiversity. According to the statement, the continuity of partnership for green and inclusive growth was reaffirmed.

The partnership also seeks to develop a bilateral strategic dialogue on climate, with the aim of strengthening environmental cooperation ahead of COP30.

Brazilian ministers agreed to hold technical dialogues on the action agenda at previous COPs and options for COP30 and options for advancing the priorities and actions of previous COPs and Brazil’s G20 Presidency.“, the joint statement said.
