Patients with symptoms of COVID-19 and influenza continue to pressure public and private health units in the metropolitan city of Belo Horizonte. Patients who were in the emergency room of Felicio Rocho Hospital in the ward designated to treat people with influenza and COVID-19 symptoms, Thursday (20), reported that service was suspended and the place was full.

According to Felcio Rocho staff, service in COVID/flu PA has already been suspended for the day due to high demand at the venue. Service takes place until 18:00. The AP assigned to any other type of request is working normally.

In response to a report from mine condition, The Felcio Rocho Hospital reported that emergency care for patients with Covid-19 follows municipal and state protocols and is operating to recommended technical capacity. During Thursday’s consultations, the maximum number of patients in place was reached, and for the safety of the patients present, new consultations were halted for a short period of time.

Also, according to the hospital, the fact does not affect the care of patients in serious, unstable or critical condition, and in these cases immediate care.

A similar situation occurred this week at the Unimed-BH health unit in Contagem, last Tuesday (18). Although care was not suspended, the delay was long and many patients had to wait outside the unit. This week, the operator recorded the highest peak in attendance, with more than 8,600 inquiries submitted.
