Governor Leid welcomed the British Ambassador to Brazil

Governor Eduardo Light met with Peter Wilson, Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Brazil, to Palacio Pyrrhini this Monday (13/12) afternoon. The diplomat, who is visiting Rio Grande do Zulu for the first time, was welcomed with military honors.

Wilson and Leed talked about the close relationship between the state and the UK, especially in terms of environmental issues. The diplomat addressed the Governor’s participation in the 26th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland in November.

Within the Rio Grande do Sulin’s activities, he provided the ambassador with lead products and highlighted renewable energy as a way to reduce carbon emissions and as an opportunity for economic growth.

“In Rio Grande do Sul, 80% of our energy comes from renewable sources, more than 20% of which is wind energy, which has great potential for further expansion. It is an opportunity to attract investors who want to buy and it is already being liked and valued by the end consumer, ”the governor said.

The meeting, which was held at the Governor’s Office, was also attended by Chief Secretary Order Lemos Jr., Economic Development Secretary Edson Broom, and Colonel Julio Caesar Rocha Lobs, President of the House of Commons.

At the end of the meeting, the Governor presented the Ambassador with a book on Gaucho culture. Wilson will stay in Porto Alegre until Tuesday (12/14) and visit the GKN unit of the British Automotive Parts Department. Rio Grande do Sulin from the capital to Sao Paulo.
