Right-back Joao Pedro was introduced by the Cornthians on Thursday, at CT Joaquim Grava, and tried to answer his arrival at Parque São Jorge amid one of the most brilliant transfers in the club’s recent history. Including reasons not to exploit Porto, Portugal.
“A lot of people have already taken that route to go to Europe, not coexist and come back. I did my best in one season. For some it wasn’t very good, but I realize I learned a lot in that passage there,” said the defender.
In Portugal, the player has played in only three matches for the first team, which is mostly used by Porto B, who plays in the domestic second division. During the period of his contract, which is still valid, he was loaned twice to Bahia, in 2019, 2020 and 2021, remaining in the Nino Paraíba reserve.
When asked if his arrival at Timão had anything to do with the fact that Paulo Betumbera, striker Roger Guedes’ manager, was in charge of the negotiations, he denied any connection between the two signings.
And the player continued: “Regarding the coach, I will work here to answer. Many players have the same manager and these (comments) do not affect me at all.”
Joao Pedro will be the fourth right-back under contract from the main team, which already includes Wagner, Matthews Alexander and Michel Macedo (on loan from Juventus). In the U-23 team, Corinthians still have Hegor Lapa and Igor Formiga.
