Kamala Harris hasn’t yet been named the Democratic nominee to run for President of the United States, but her online status is already clear: she’s a meme.
In the latest source of praise among Generation Z, British pop sensation Charli XCX called the US vice president a “brat” – a term used to describe rebellious and bold children and teenagers. The word is also the title of the artist’s latest album.
And Kamala’s campaign is also taking off.
How to pronounce the name of Kamala Harris, the favorite for the Democratic Party in the United States
After the artist released “Kamala é brat” on Sunday (21) night, Vice President “X” adopted a lime green color for the “Kamala HQ” account. This increase led the account to reach almost 1 million followers.
With videos of Kamala dancing or viral memes making jokes with the singer’s songs in the background, Charli XCX reinforced what was already popular online. See below.
The singer explained that the word “brat” is “a slightly confused girl who likes to party and says some stupid things from time to time, feels like herself, but is always nervous about him.” Breakdown…”
Charli XCX’s “Green Brat” has already rallied celebrities and brands around the world since the singer’s album release in early June.
Currently, the Sunday recording related to the Vice President has become a new trend in America. It’s an event that will help Kamala influence young voters who could play a decisive role in the November 5 election.
It’s a striking contrast to Republican rival Donald Trump, 78, but 81-year-old President Joe Biden, who dropped out of the presidential race and backed Kamala as his successor.
The “brat” trend joins other viral Kamala memes — like the audio of a speech in 2023, which was slammed by critics but adopted as a philosophy of life by Generation Z.
“Do you think you fell out of the coconut tree?” Kamala asks in her speech, quoting her mother, smiling and quickly changing. “You are in the context of everything you have experienced and everything that has come before you.”
The internet adopted the coconut emoji as Kamala’s unofficial campaign symbol. TikTokers have used the coconut tree’s speech sound in at least 3,000 videos, according to the platform.
Young voters who tend to vote for the Democratic Party turned away from the election between Biden and Trump. Internet memes can translate into votes, according to Chris Mowry, a Democratic influencer with 340,000 followers on TikTok.
“Young voters vote more based on personality and vibe,” he said.
The reflection of memes was also a topic in the North American press.
