In a duel valid for the ninth round of the Italian championship, Rome and Napoli tied 0-0 on Sunday, at the Olympic Stadium in the capital. The Portuguese host coach, Jose Mourinho, was sent off in the second half of the match due to a complaint, but he left smiling after the final whistle: Roma ended Napoli’s winning streak of eight straight wins.
Luciano Spalletti, the visiting team’s coach, was angered by a disallowed goal by striker Victor Osimhen, who was sent off at the end of the Derby del Sol.
Having started the season very well, Roma have won only two of their last six matches – It comes from a 6-1 defeat of Bodo/Glimt by the UEFA Conference Leagueand occupies fourth place (16 points). Napoli, in turn, is in the lead with 25, ahead of Milan thanks to the tie-breaking criteria.
In the next round, Roma travel to Cagliari on Wednesday, while Napoli host Bologna at Diego Armando Maradona the next day.
