After the riots subsided in England, the affected communities are now recovering from their damage. One such place was the Spello Library in Liverpool, which was burnt down.
To restore space, dozens of teachers decided to donate books to fill the gaps. Not indifferent, as she was a compulsive reader, Queen Camilla also wanted to contribute to the efforts.
“I would like to thank Queen Camilla for her thoughtful letter and books which have given new inspiration to the people of the region at this difficult time,” said Mayor Steve Rotherham.
“Her Majesty’s gift, together with book donations and the support of hundreds of authors and individuals, reminds us that kindness still outweighs evil and strengthens our resolve to come together and rebuild in the wake of recent events.”
Protests followed a July 29 stabbing at a leisure center in Southport, northwest England, in which three women were killed and eight children and two adults were injured.
