Sao Paulo has consulted Aston Villa to find out the possibility of signing 25-year-old striker Wesley Moraes on loan. The player is currently on loan at Club Brugge, from Belgium, and will have to be released to return to Brazil.
Information of interest to Wesley was initially provided and confirmed by “ge” UOL Sports.
The Morumbi team sees the situation as a business opportunity. Without resources for significant investments, São Paulo is betting on a business that does not involve acquisition costs. The club would hardly remain in the fray if a rival with greater financial strength emerged.
Wesley was the biggest signing in Aston Villa history. In 2019, the English club spent 25 million euros (105 million BRL) to get the Brazilian out of Club Brugge. Good performances in his debut in England led to him being called up by Tite to replace David Neres in the Brazilian team’s friendlies against Argentina and South Korea later that year.
In January 2020, Wesley tore a ligament in his right knee during the win over Burnley in the Premier League. He spent more than a year away from the prairie, before returning in April of this year.
Wesley was loaned to Club Brugge earlier this season. Your agreement with the Belgian national team is valid until June 30, 2022.
