SUS sanitary and administrative reform to be discussed in Senate plenary – Senate news

The Senate plenary will hold a thematic debate, next Friday (3), to analyze the bill promoting health and administrative reform in the Unified Health System (SUS). NS PL 1.746 / 2019, by Ruggero Carvalho (PT-SE), Senators and guests will debate from 10 a.m., at a remote meeting. The senator called the proposed health responsibility bill.

According to the author’s justification, the Basic Law creates legal tools for “governance and accountability” (oversight and accountability) for the SUS. The senator wants the project to be an initial step in the “necessary health and administrative reform” of the system, “in order to enable the implementation of the role of the Brazilian state in the provision of health procedures and services and management of the system based on the principles of universality, decentralization and integration”.

According to Rogerio Carvalho, the project integrates the interventions that are practiced and that are expressed in the regulatory rules of the health sector. The proposal allows governments to require each other to achieve performance goals, with demand for results and assessment of user satisfaction.

The substantive session request was submitted by Senator Paulo Rocha (PT-PA) and approved in plenary in early July.
