Ruby’s brand of ketchup, made by Casa Mendes Gonsalves with 100% Portuguese tomatoes, was voted the best in the UK by the British press.

A highlight that comes as Casa Mendes Gonsalves begins to take part in a United Kingdom company that wants to strengthen its commitment to value Portuguese tomatoes. “We are very proud to produce the best ketchup in the UK, as voted by The Sunday Times, and are delighted to announce that Casa Mendes Gonçalves has acquired a stake in Rubies in the Rubble and continues to be the exclusive supplier. This will reinforce our commitment to sustainability, the fight against food waste and recognizing the value of Portuguese tomatoes. Rubies in the Rubble, a brand specializing in sustainable condiments, is committed to fighting food waste by using surplus fruits and vegetables in its recipes. Now, it becomes the latest brand from Casa Mendes Gonçalves, joining Paladin and Peninsula.

Since it was created in 2012, the British brand has diverted more than 992 tonnes of leftover or spoiled fruit and vegetables. The sale of products has already made it possible to avoid more than 832 tons of CO2 emissions.

Casa Mendes Gonçalves, based in Colegá, employs more than 417 employees from 12 different nationalities and aims to set a benchmark in the food of the future.
