Only three fake websites received, according to Psafe, more than a million queries that provided data to cybercriminals, taking into account only those using Android phones – it was not possible to tell whether the person had accessed just one or more than one. from these sites.
The estimate is based on the number of Android users, which will be 131.1 million people, according to IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics).
“We have identified very large numbers of expected victims in such a short time: one site with more than 567,000, another with more than 308,000 and the third with more than 180,000,” says PSafe CEO Cyber Security, Emilio Simoni. , in the company’s statement.
How did the coup happen?
According to Psafe monitoring, victims are linked by receiving messages containing fake links, which arrive via social media pages, apps or email.
In the message, the victim is informed that he can refer to the amount at the indicated link and transfer it to his checking account.
“Currently, the victim provides more data so that fraudsters can increase their databases and, therefore, implement more scams, since we have websites that even ask for a PIX key number,” Simoni highlights.

The system set up by the central bank created a calendar so that individuals and companies could request a refund and find out the exact amount forgotten. Three specific periods are created from the date of birth of a person or the date of establishment of the company.
- From 7 to 11/3 – for newborns or for companies that opened before 1968
- 14 to 18/3 – for those born or businesses opened between 1968 and 1983
- 21 to 25/3 – for companies created or opened after 1983
It is necessary to pay attention to the time set by the site after the consultation available the day before yesterday. Check if the period is from 4 AM to 2 PM or from 2 PM to 12 PM. Refunds can be made via Pix starting March 7. Those who do not have a key or prefer not to indicate it when requesting a transfer will be informed by the respective banks of how to make the deposit.
