SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL / FOLHAPRESS) – American Delonde West, a former basketball player who spent almost a decade in the NBA begging on the streets of the USA.
The incident happened last weekend on an avenue in Alexandria, part of the southeastern state of Virginia.
In viral images on social media, he grabs a cardboard box and greets the driver who identified himself.
West, who has played professionally as a shooting guard and is currently 38, has played for major teams such as the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks and the Cleveland Cavaliers in his nine-season career. The player came to work alongside LeBron James.
The flag is not new
This is not the first time the former player has been seen on the streets. The American, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder ten years ago, was found barefoot and in dirty clothes in a Houston parking lot in 2016.
Since then, West has seldom been seen in a dangerous situation by fans who recognize him on public roads.
He received medical help from the owner of Dallas Mavericks when his addiction became public, but after a while he started begging again.
