The United States on Sunday urged Russia to “consider” the immediate departure of its citizens from Russia after airlines canceled flights and several countries closed their airspace in an attempt to close the Moscow siege on Ukraine.

The U.S. embassy in Moscow said, “A large number of airlines are canceling flights to and from Russia, and many countries have closed their airspace to Russian airlines.” The U.S. embassy said in a statement that it had issued a warning to Russia in January that it had issued a warning against Russia.
The European Union (EU) closed its airspace to Russian flights this Sunday. The move consolidated what was already massive, with several of the 27 EU member states announcing that they would close their airspace separately for Russian aircraft.
Russian airline Aeroflot today announced the suspension of all flights to Europe.
