TJ-PE Unimed Recife forces to resume service for plans

The Court of Justice of Pernambuco (TJ-PE) has decided that Unimed Recife Cooperativa de Trabalho Médico will completely re-establish care for health plan patients in its own network of hospitals.

123RF

Judge Janduhy Finizola da Cunha Filho handed him on Tuesday (21/12), the decision to grant a five-day period to Unimed “to re-establish the approved network, and to keep all hospitals registered” […]Without any limitation, exception or restriction of the rights of users with valid contracts.

Unimed Recife has withdrawn hospitals from its network unilaterally, without replacing them with other services to maintain customer service.

Now, the company must resume the network that was originally sold by Consumer Health Plans. The fine for non-compliance with the decision is R$5,000 per day.

The injunction from the court fulfills a public civil action brought by Aduseps (Association for the Defense of Users of Insurance, Health Plans and Systems), under which the disqualification of hospitals is detrimental to the “contractual balance of the agreement signed between the parties”.

Accreditation resume is valid for hospitals such as Memorial São José, Esperança Olinda, Esperança Recife, Real Português and Santa Joana.
