Keir Starmer and US President exchange compliments after meeting at NATO summit in Washington DC
United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer (Labour Party), this Thursday (11.July.2024) US President Joe Biden (Democrat Party) “Very good shape”.
In an interview BBC, Starmer praised Biden’s leadership skills. “He was mentally active, in every detail”, he said when asked if he was the president “old age”.
The leaders held a bilateral meeting in Washington on Wednesday (July 10), and the British Prime Minister is in the North American capital to attend the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) summit that ends this Thursday (July 11).
At the meeting, Starmer and Biden reaffirmed their support for Ukraine and opposed Russian President Vladimir Putin. In addition, they discussed a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages and a 2-state solution to end the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Biden also commented on the importance of deepening economic ties between the United States and the United Kingdom. Defined as British Prime Minister “The Best of Partners”.
The exchange of compliments between the leaders comes at a time when the 81-year-old Biden’s health has fueled debate among Democrats and the media about the US president’s ability to continue his race for the White House.
