NS Unimed Virtual Challenge of Good with Life, which was completed on the 24th, with the participation of 1,700 people spread over 175 cities in the Midwest of São Paulo.
The event was promoted by Unimed Centro-Oeste Paulista in partnership with 13 Singulars in the region – Adamantina, Assis, Avaré, Bauru, Botucatu, Dracena, Jaú, Lençóis Paulista, Lins, Marília, Ourinhos, Presidente Prudente and Tupã – and featured sponsorship of credit cooperatives Sicredi, Sicoob, and Uniprime.
United in favor of exercise as a means of increasing physical and mental well-being, participants were able to choose the method (walking or running) and distance traveled (15 km or 50 km) that best suited their routine. In addition, in the comfort of their own home, they received a set with a T-shirt and a personalized medal.
Since then, athletes have had seven days to complete the course. Those who submitted an activity recording to the organizing committee were competing for 260 sporting goods store vouchers, worth R$250.00 each.
The drawing took place on October 29, at the headquarters of Unimed Centro-Oeste Paulista, in Bauru (SP), with representatives from the cooperative’s executive board. List of recipient names is available at collaborative site and on their social networks (Facebook social networking site NS Instagram).
For Bauru resident Roberta Cosima, participating in the virtual challenge was different, but fascinating and full of love: although she was the only one who signed up, her husband and two daughters also joined the wave! “There was not a single day that I took the courses on my own. The event was a reason to unite us, and even when I was tired, I received support from everyone in the house,” she says.
Carmen Petain Amaru, director of the Viver Bem Center and Healthcare at Unimed Botucatu, has been able to maintain her exercise routine during the pandemic, but she knows this hasn’t been possible for everyone. The big difference, she says, in the hypothetical challenge is to save the habit of exercising safely, in the method, distance traveled, days and times each person chooses the most appropriate.
“Non-athletes and high-performance athletes are able to participate. In addition to the many benefits of healthy living motivators, we also participate in prize draws. Is there a better race than this? When there is more, virtual or in person, I am involved! The organization was 10! I thank Unimed Centro-Oeste Paulista for this opportunity!”
Habit change. This is the phrase that sums up the hypothetical challenge of Marcelo Carvalho Mello, from Assis, who has chosen to walk the 15 kilometres.

It is noteworthy that the procedure was developed in an online form, especially this year, to supply the traditional Unimed regional rally, which was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Carrying out the event in person in 2022 is based on current health recommendations.
